Overheard on an escalator in the mall, two teenagers discussing a friend…

“Does she have her residency?”

“No, she’s still Samoan”

“That’s a pity, if she had her residency she wouldn’t have to work, she could get the single mother’s benefit.”

“Do you have residency?”

“Yeah, that’s why I get the benefit, aren’t you?”

“I must be, I was born here when Mum came over from Samoa the first time”
